Through cooperation project with several universities the Nürburgring shall be developed to a center of academic research and training for motorsport related study programs. Besides the existing partnership with the University of Aplied Siences Kaiserslautern/Zweibrücken for the course "Motorsport Management" further cooperation's with the University Koblenz/Remagen, the University Saarbrücken, the RWTH Aachen, the University Trier and the University Stralsund will be established.
As first project 24 students and 3 teachers of the University Stralsund traveled to the Nürburgring for a week of specific courses and visits to different motorsport related companies. Amongst companies such as Phoenix, Opel/General Motors, Manthey Racing, Black Falcon, Capricorn and Pirelli a visit at Öhlins DTC was requested by the student who wanted to receive some first-hand information about suspension and damping technology direct from the Swedish premium manufacturer.
When visiting Öhlins the students gained many interesting facts about Öhlins Racing as a global player in high-end motorsport and preserved basic knowledge about suspension technology and chassis dynamics from one of our motorsport engineers. Later on the students could watch a TTX36 shock while a dyno run and look of the shoulder of our racing technicians dismantling a TTX22 mountain bike shock.
The visit at Öhlins DTC was appreciated very much by the students and they had many interesting questions for us. We thank you for your visit and keep fingers crossed for your further studies. See you next time in Meuspath.
