SBK: Ten Kate changes to Öhlins - and won!

Misano - After intensive testing in Magny Cours, the Ten Kate Honda World Superbike team decided to use ÖHLINS components at the last race weekend in Misano. Jonathan Rea and Carlos Checa were among the fastest riders at all sessions at Misano weekend. "At the start of the season, we have tested Kayaba dampers (note: as an alternative to the previously used White Power elements). We wanted to try definitely another manufacturer," said Ronald ten Kate to 'Motor Cycle News'. "The Öhlins products have fully convinced during the test at Magny-Cours. We saw the test with a view to 2010 respectively. But the positive impressions with the Öhlins were simply too much to loose more time."

Result: Jonathan Rea won the (completely dry) second SBK-race in Misano with his new, Öhlins equiped Ten Kate Honda - the first SBK world championship races win in 2009 for the Dutch team. Team made Carlos Checa finished as a strong fifth.
