ÖHLINS electronic adjustable suspension system for BMW R 1200 GS (ESA)

WORLD NEWS: ÖHLINS electronic adjustable shock absorber system!
New aftermarket solution for the bestseller BMW R 1200 GS!

At the Milan motorcycle show EICMA in November 2011 ÖHLINS is going to present the brandnew “electronic adjustable suspension system“.

Following the extremely positive response of the system – used in the new Ducati Multistrada – Öhlins provides this new shock absorber system in 2012 for customers of the best selling bike in Europe, the BMW R 1200 GS.

In the BMW the existing BMW ESA shocks are replaced with those from Öhlins. Those electronically controlled Öhlins shock absorbers are based on the popular front-type shock TTX36 and a complete new TTX39 in the back (with larger piston diameter). The standard BMW electronics remains unchanged and is only supplemented by an Öhlins module. Operation takes place via the standard BMW-operating items.

The most important functional main advantage of the Öhlins electronic system is its "smart" damping adjustment. In the shock mode "COMFORT" the function is automatically adjusted corresponding to the speed - the damping level increases with increasing speed. If the speed is reduced, the damping level is also reduced and will automatically return to a softer setting. This "intelligent mode" is not part of BMW ESA system and means a uge benefit in terms of rides with two-person, heavy loads or fast riding.

The price of the ÖHLINS electronic suspension system is at about 2.900 € (VAT incl.) Availability: spring 2012 at the Öhlins dealer.
